You can do anything you think is necessary to patch or repair a crack etc
during the growing season. Some use fungicide treatments grafting wax
silicone rubber etc. However, before the weighoff, all foreign sustances must be
removed. No additives of any sort are allowed....just pumpkin. If the crack or
hole exposes the internal cavity, you are disqualified. Pumpkins with large soft
spots, pumpkins leaking or on the verge of collapse are also disqualified.
