All good and accurate follow-ups in reference to the
initial post. Here is a little more relevant food for
thought:
1) Not all infected plants, suffer from and/or display
the "traditional signs" associated with MV. Some may
not suffer at all and/or show any signs.
2) Fruit pollinated on infected vines prior to the
display of "traditional signs", will still grow and
mature normally although not to full weight/size.
3) Geographical anomalies and land clutter/structures
such as hedges, stands of trees, groups/rows of
corn/sunflowers etc have been shown to disrupt the
lighting patterns of foraging insects while in flight.
(Wayne, based on the info provided, this would most
likely explain your onslaught of infestations directly
following the hay and alfalfa cuttings.) BF
