Here in Central Pennsylvania mushroom soil is a popular soil enhancer. What
I understand is that the stuff is mostly horse manure, compost, etc, which
is
devleoped specifically for growing mushrooms. When the stuff is "spent" for
mushrooms, it is sold for about $20/yard.
I used it on my garden last year with good results on all the veggies.
(Don't ask about the pumpkin, I did about everything wrong). Has anyone had
any direct experience using mushroom soil for growing giant pumpkins?
Thanks in advance for your comments.

Here in Australia we call it mushroom compost. They apparently grow three
lots of mushrooms in it before its replaced. Its made from chicken manure,
straw and peat.
I am growing my pumpkin in it now, I added my own compost to it with a lot
of horse poo.
I knew someone that worked at a mushroom farm and they got me some compost
that was only used once and had extra peat. ( his own special mix )
I think its really great stuff, it stays loose, if I push my hand into the
ground it will go in as far as my wrist.
If your lucky you'll grow a few mushrooms to.
I'll be using it again next year.
