Hello everyone.
A new grower asked me how to estimate the weight of his pumpkin the other
day.
He told me his was huge, he could easily pick up 60 to 70 kgs but theres no
way he could pick up his pumpkin.
I told him to measure it as you do for the over the top method, and I'll
call him at home and we could figure it out.
I called him, his measurments total 150 inches. I told him its about 81lbs
or 36kgs.
No way he said, you better come around and look at this, its huge.
So I got a bit excited and jumped in the car and went straight over.
This was to be the first pumpkin that I've seen all season apart from mine.
A new Australian was running through my mind.
We got to the middle of his patch and there it was in all its glory, all 30
to 40kgs.
In his eyes it was huge. I was amused but I certainly couldn't laugh at him.
So I educated him with pictures of giant pumpkins, gave him some info to
take home and we did a tour of my little patch.
He went home with heaps of enthusiasum and I think he'll be sleeping in his
patch from now on.
I've done it again......................I've past on the bug.
Tony
