Re: Aussie Update

There hasn't really been much news worth sending about my patch, but
this morning I found a pumpkin that I didn't know existed. It's early
days yet - it's almost volleyball size - but it's a start. For some
reason both my plants have had very few female flowers, and they are
also quite late in the season. It all seems to be happening now, with
lots more flowers forming and a couple of attempted hand pollinations
two days ago. Even though i only have two months till the weighoff,
this pumpkin will definitely be a personal record. I'm stoked that
finally I have something to show for all the work I've done - people
ask me how the giant pumpkin is going and previously I've had to say
it's not. Things are looking up.
The weather has been great in the past two weeks - high 20's and low
thirtys which is perfect as far as I'm concerned, but yesterday was 35
and today is forcast for 40. - I'll be sorting out some shade and
maybe some ice etc as soon as this email is finished.
Now that I have good news to report, expect more frequent updates (but
then again I said I would have a online pumpkin diary with weekly
photos etc etc but that never even came close to happening).
yay
