Hi All
I notice us Aussies have been a bit slow without our updates lately, we
are all too busy concentrating on our pumpkins, but here is my update.
It is 8 weeks to the competition, and progress is going well, in our
patch.
Our first Greer is a mass of leaves and vines. I estimate the pumpkin
on that to be about 100kgs (230 lbs approx), it is a very pale cream
colour. The other Greer's vine would be 10' long maximum (so much
different to the other Greer, it was planted a month later, but I don't
feel that is the only reason for its slow growth), it has a very small
pumpkin on it, about 30kgs.
We have a couple of other pumpkins about 100kgs also. With 2 months to
go, I feel our pumpkins are right on schedule.
I have heard of a 200kg pumpkin in Northern NSW, where it is quite
humid sometimes. I hope it makes it, it will definately be a new record
if it does.
We had a wet weekend, we need sun, without humid conditions this week.
Our summer has been a lot cooler than last year, and much more humid.
How about a few more updates, and I think there are a few who belong or
watch this group, who never contribute, we would love to hear from you
too.
