Municipal water

Greg: I often wondered about the effects of municipal water on pumpkin
plants or the pro's and cons of well water vs. municipal.
I can't see anything positive in reguards to chlorine or fluoride
being poured on a garden day after day?
ever notice before adding tap water to an aquarium or for house plants
or soil testing you're supposed to let the water sit so that the
impurities will evaporate out? we'll this doesn't have the chance to
happen when we are watering out of a hose.
Out of curiosity, i tested my tap waters' PH last year "and it was
almost off the alkalinity scale! While i am sure the chemicals in the
water had somthing to do with this, neverless you can't ignore the fact
that there is somthing going on?
but if you were to do a survey of all the 700+ pound pumpkins, i
believe that you would find out that the majority of them were grown on
well water?! but i beleive that this might be somewhat misinterpreted,
because most of the growers with well water are in rural areas, which
usually means larger plots to grow more plants and larger less crowded
plants, as well as easier access to supplies of manuare. while growers
with municipal water supplies usually have smaller plots with one or two
somewhat crowded plants as well having to hunt down manuare sources
which might not be the pick of the lot , "if ya know what i mean"? I
beleive that the plus side of municipal water is an unexhuastible
supply, while wells tend to dry up in hot summers! with the exception of
the lucky that have artesian wells? also well water tends to be cooler
than municipal water which may temporary shock
plants? Some of the northwest growers actually store their well water in
500 gal. storage tanks before applying to their plants.

Just some food for thought?!
Good luck and good growin
