I used a chemical sprayer and did malathion and sevrin(sp).
I also dusted with a Rotenone chemical. I was on vacation for 2 weeks in
July...but sprayed right before I left and sprayed right after I came back and
after every rain or watering would repeat. I am seriously thinking about the
netting and nematodes.
I am also thinking of just burying the main stem and cutting off the leaves so
they have no "real" access to the main vine? They really did some damage last
year...I even had a borer on the outside of a pumpkin away from the stem!! I
have been raising pumpkins for years with my top one being 230lbs...the borers
are just crazy in my garden. I can even see the little moth (adult) on my
leaves at times!
Any help would be appreciated...thanks.

There is a company called Gardens Alive that sells a "super-light Insect
Barrier"...it says for the vine borer...it is 95% translucent! My
question...has anyone ever used this??? What about watering???
They also have nematodes that you inject into the vine to kill vine borers
once they are in the vine...has anyone used this also?
I was demolished last year after tons of chemical spraying...we are talking
hundreds of the little beasts!

What were you using for a Chemical? Sprayer?
