I used a chemical sprayer and did malathion and sevrin(sp).
I also dusted with a Rotenone chemical. I was on vacation for 2 weeks in
July...but sprayed right before I left and sprayed right after I came back
and
after every rain or watering would repeat. I am seriously thinking about the
netting and nematodes.
I am also thinking of just burying the main stem and cutting off the leaves
so
they have no "real" access to the main vine? They really did some damage
last
year...I even had a borer on the outside of a pumpkin away from the stem!! I
have been raising pumpkins for years with my top one being 230lbs...the
borers
are just crazy in my garden. I can even see the little moth (adult) on my
leaves at times!
Any help would be appreciated...thanks. >>
Malathion and seven are not a listed product for control Vine Borer. Rotenone
is somewhat effective if used faithfully. Two weeks away during prime Vine
Borer season is a problem. One inch of rain during an eight hour period would
have brought your Rotenone protection down to "0". Check with your extension
service for a listed control for your state. In MA it is Mathoxychlor.
