Update From New England:

Update From New England:

February has been more like March, last five weeks has produced 9.8" of rain!!
May be the earliest till in the 25 years I have lived here. May till in 1 or
2 weeks, earliest in the past was 3/21.

Had my soil tested from the samples taken last Fall.

pH 6.4
P 70 ppm very high
K 49 ppm Low-Medium
Ca 2026 ppm Very High
Mg 339 ppm Very High
Cation Exch Cap 12.8 Meg/100g
Micronutrient ppm Should Be
Boron 0.5 0.1-2.0
Manganese 0.7 3-20
Zinc 6.0 0.1- 70
Copper 0.2 0.3-0.8
Iron 2.3 1.0-40

Nitrogen tests made in the Fall has little bearing on the Spring level, (did
not list one), because it is so soluble.

This Spring I will be tilling in the following.
Chicken Manure (sparingly) this is already spread around cooling off.
Murate Of Potash with Boron
Urea
Manganese supplement, (Thanks for the recommendations)
Copper supplement
Lime (Some was tilled in last Fall)
Dry Cat Food (Slow Release Fertilizer) Still working on a rate calculation. I
will not be tilling in Dog Food with this, as listed in previous messages,
that will be a Fall application only.

I will be planting using the Direct Start Method and Compost Feeding Methods
as I have listed on Dan’s page.

I ‘m going to make some early season additions to the Excel Spread Sheet
Growth Chart I have shared with some of you. Right now it starts on 7/1 and I
track early season events in a separate program. I will try and combine these
two in the future. I may also put in a weather station with a download link
to my PC to track weather conditions more accurately along with the Pumpkin
growth records. This will give us an even more comprehensive look at the
interaction of weather and growth rates.
