Re: soil


A word of advice from a non expert,Don't go to crazy with the wood ash. We
live on the edge of a pine forest and had enriched our soil before pumpkin
days with -pineneedle/peat pond muck- and thought the ash would sweeten the
soil since it must certainly be very acid after all those amendments we had
foolishly added. Well surprise, when we had our soil tested  the test came
back so alkaline,we have spent 2 seasons gently trying to bring the  levels
down.
What ever you decide, get your soil tested before you add to much of
anything.
