The tent over Dolly is working well, allowing the heat in and the sun
out.
I have hoisted the vines up and changed the arrangement. The wire
standards supporting the vines are quite springy. I have now put them in
on an angle away from the vine. The vine pulls them inwards forming a
bow. There is a strip of an old innertube around the vine with an
elasticcy nylony sort of stuff connecting the standard to the innertube.
All stresses on the vine are very gently but all going upwards so as the
pumpkin grows the vine automatically goes up with it.
I am really proud of this but I am sure I am telling you all how to suck
eggs.
Tony - Dolly is going well and expanding rapidly. She will be in the
paper this week and her big cousins (Molly and Polly) a few vines along
are quite jealous!!!!!! (Sheeeeeeepish grin) :-)
