I am completely new to this giant pumpkin growing and have 4 major plants
 (Atlantic) growing.

I live in Australia and it is now late in our summer and the weather is
about 100F to 110F for the last week and although storming tonight we have
another week of about 100F to go. My plants are about 8 to 15 feet long. I
will get access to the works digital photo and start putting photos on my
home page once they are ready just for curiosity.

The plants have all produced some decent start pumpkins but the best one
(almost basketball size) has now got something wrong with the stem close to
the pumpkin in that some of the stem looks as if it is chewed off. Is this
just an insect or is it more serious.

I have had a lot of female flowers that did not fertilise and dropped off.
I have read about hand fertilization and this seems to work but any further
 advice would help.

 Anyway hi to everyone.

Dennis,
Hang in there and keep hand pollinating. You will have trouble getting
anything to stay on with those temps. If you can chill the blooms with ice and
shading during the heat of the day, you might get one to stay on.
