Re: stem rot?


Dennis hard to say on the stem when you say chewed off does that mean all the
way off?  These AG have all kinds of stem splitting probs.  Is the stem brown
and mushy at the spot? If it is its rot.  Best bet is to pollenate all you
can.  This is best done in the mornining at cooler temps......take 3-4 male
flowers (no baby pumpkins attached) and bring them to a freshly opened
female.  Pull off the orange petals of the flower stripping it down so it
looks like a lolly pop take the pop to the female and gentally tough the lobes
of the female.  Your trying to cover the lobes with male pollen.  Also make
sure you shade these new pumpins if they get to hot in the sun they could
abort.  Best of luck brock
