Stew,
I don't believe in fungicide plugs...give it a thin coating of whatever you
use and let the air get at it and keep it dry. A plug doesn't add any more
protection than a thin surface coating...the plug hinders air circulation and
holds moisture that you don't want. The split, or hole, may open up more...or
it may not. The plug won't help stop the splitting.
