   If your soil is not too wet, go to it. If your soil is unfrozen, but wet, 
you can damage the soil structure and end up with clumpy hard soil. If the 
soil is workable, the oak leaves are ok.....they get a bad rap as being to 
acidic. There may be a slight acidic reaction but manures and fertilizers 
also have a slight acid reaction. Nothing to be concerned about. Not a bad 
idea to take a soil sample and check out what may be missing. If the pH is 
below 6.5, you might add a little lime. Most common types of leaves are ok. 
Leaves from the black Walnut tree might not be a good idea....the rest are 
mostly good.
