I usually add the steaming, hot horse manure in the Fall. I also throw in
some lime pellets and some high nitrogen fertilizer. It is important to
dig or till the manure into the soil. This will aid in the breakdown of
the manure.
Try and find the manure that is from the horse stalls in which the horses
are fed a special diet. This will eliminate the unwanted seeds that can
be transfered to your soil. I once got horse manure from a neighbor that
had his horses grazing in the field all day.............my garden plot
turned into field grass. Now I use this premium manure from some
boarding stalls in which the snibby owners don't even let you pet their
horses.
