Pumpkin Report - NZ
Having been away for a few weeks, the person looking after
the house was not overly worried about pumpkins. This and a cool and
somewhat wet summer to date has meant that growth has been retarded. The
leaves look a lot smaller. Having said this, after a week of watering and
feeding, runners are coming out and gaining about a foot a day. Lots of male
flowers but not sure if any pumpkins have taken as the largest is only about
football (Rugby) size.
A phone around shows the same around Taranaki. I suspect
that this will not be a 'classic' year but there are still lots of keen
growers reporting "good growth".
I will finish weeding the patch today and fork over the soil
which has compacted fairly well.
I will prevail!!!!!!
Have a 'Parky' day
