Seed / cross ranking list
Sir:
Thank you for your time and effort in this endeavor. I did not get a chance
to see the Hester 850.5; I DO know that it was 1st, Des Moines Weighoff, had
a Mombertian shape, and weighed +6.33%. FYI, the 1036 Kline '99 came from
the Male 688.5 Kline X Female 968 Sproule. Personally, I think a +%heavy
Mombert crossed with a contest winner in the 700 to 900 lb range would be a
definite try for 2000. If you look a the recent Schwartz fruit, the weights
seem to be falling. Based on advice so far, my #1 choice is 850.5 Hester '99
X 688.5. Kline '98. This Kline '98 was the Male that produced the Kline
1036. The other side also has good lines. It is quite obvious on the lines
charts that if one crosses, say, two seeds from the same plant or same
pumpkin, for the same year, the weights usually go down.
How heavy was YOUR last pumpkin???
This ranking thing will probably foster improvement in the overall growth
curve / seed lines. Again, thanks for the advice. I tried to send
something like this the other day and I think it got lost before I actually
sent it to you. For some reason I cannot access the actual List. However, I
am in Mallorn (The new list comments come into my email and I can navigate
from there).
Take care
Pumpkinist.
