Oregon Update Replied

In reply to the number of plants, well if you include the 6 squash, that
makes 18 plants. Yes, thats a ton, but we all know some plants are duds,
some are splitters, some are sterile, some get disease, and some simply are a
pain, so if I can end up with 6 or 7 healthy plants on October 31st out of
the 18 I start with, I will be happy, very happy. Last year after the
hailstorm my decisions were made for me as I lost half the patch from leaf
damage or splitting due to the excess rain. I don't like puting all my seeds
in one pot, for too many things can happen.
George, yes, I am vary happy with the seed starting line up, but you never
know. I have written many hundreds of letters and owed many people seeds to
accumulate that line up, so newbies out there don't be intimidated, I was a
newbie too. Work just as hard in the off season as you will this summer in
the patch and get those seeds from everyone, yep, everyone. I fortunately
have gotten to pay off a few of those dets this winter thankx to the blessing
of my 1999 season, and hey it feels great to be back in pumpkin mode as P2K
begins. P2K will be my 7th year raising the giants, and it seems that
passion has only grown to get bigger and better.
Take Care,
The Pumpkinguru
