RE: THE BAD SEED
Brett stated in his last post that he has grown several of these. I don't
know of anyone else who has planted that seed. Perhaps he can fill us all
in. I just want to get more information so I can make better choices this
spring. We all go to the weighoffs and see the ones that make it and get
the chance to learn about them. We don't often get information about the
ones that don't make it other than the overheard comments like, "No Bill
isn't here today, I heard he had one over 900 that went down 2 weeks ago."
Who is Bill? And what was he growing? The value of this list is that it
brings many of us from diverse areas together year round so we can address
these issues. I love to visit with my fellow growers at the weighoffs, but
we don't get together often enough to go into much detail on these issues.
I suspect these problems aren't limited to individual plants, but are common
to certain pumpkins or genetic lines. Maybe it is a metabolism issue. Lets
find out.
