Yup Glenn, you are right re the cooler weather but there is
a lot of downy mildew about. I have pulled out all cucumbers (my favourite
summer vege) and other Cucurbit to stem the downy mildew which was rampant
on the courgettes.
The wind don't help much either. However, having said that,
you are right as we certainly do not have water restrictions on at the
moment and the sun is now shining in my office cheering me up considerably.
And the micoclimate cannot be that bad... aw shucks, it's not too bad at all
really. The Australians have to tolerate things like not growing pumpkins as
good as us. And drinking lousy beer. (Take that Tony).
And the giant onions are starting to do giant things.
I s'pose that a mediocre season is better than no season and
we do have a lot of summer to go. Time to beat the Aussies eh
