GROWERS

Port Elgin Pumpkinfest maintains a Growers data base and anyone listed on it receives newsletters updating growers on our weigh off, the grower's schools, the growers manual and also how to obtain seeds. The newsletter also gives results and growing tips from experienced growers. If you e-mail us your full name, address and phone number, we will add you to our data base and automatically send you this information in the future.

SEEDS

Port Elgin Pumpkinfest is not normally in the business of selling seeds as there are professional seed companies who have a good selection of giant vegetable. However because of our World Record Holder 1092 lb. Burke seeds, we did have some for sale last year. These have all been sold and now the only way to obtain top seeds is to attend the Provincial Growers Seminar on Sun. March 26th, 2000 at Guelph University or contact the grower individually. We do however provide free top quality 789+ lb. seeds from our winning pumpkin at the Bruce/Grey Weigh Off. These seeds are available to new growers and visitors if they stop by Pumpkinfest Headquarters or send us a self addressed stamped envelope to the address below. We also provide free seeds to any grower who has weighed off during the previous two years at our Port Elgin Pumpkinfest Weigh Off competition.

GROWERS MANUALS

Port Elgin Pumpkinfest has compiled a 40 page full Grower's Manual that is available to the public for a $5 mailing fee. A copy of the manual is also available through the e-mail by request. This manual was developed by a Growers Committee made up of experienced growers who have grown from 700 to 1,000 pound pumpkins. It includes all aspects of growing giants and maintaining them until competition time. The manual also includes tips on growing the other giants including squash, sunflowers, cornstalks, cabbage, watermelons etc.
