hey every new grower check this out

  Hey everyone on the list,
Well especially everyone that is new to growing AG's. Well, since growing
pumpkins for me has gone from another plant in my garden to a whole back yard
garden only dedicated to AG's I have jumped in hook line and sinker. I was
totally amazed by the genetics conversation on the list but what I was
looking at in the action of breeding was EVERY big pumpkin was being bred
with EVERY other big pumpkin. This left me a little skeptical. I offer All of
you to look at Mike Nepereny's AG genetics primer on the AGGC site especially
focused on the Genotypic Recessive Selection this has helped me to feel
better about the seeds I have chosen to grow this year and I feel it may shed
some light on you newcomers as to your selections.
One seed I have been fortunate to obtain is the 791 Glasier 98 (Thank you
Mr. Glasier)Which is the 567.5 Mombert 92' which was self/sib and I will do
the same again this year now we will see how my decisions pay off in a couple
of months.
I encourage all you newcomers to take a look at the AGGC site and I am sure
you will learn allot, I know I sure have.
Good luck next year and hopefully everyone will set there new personal
best in 2001.
