Frozen pumpkin growers,
In my little part of the world it's no secret that this is not my favorite
time of the year. My patch, like others is frozen under 10 inches of snow.
Spring is not even a myth on the horizon yet something just popped up in
my pumpkin world. Last time I looked there were 289 members on the pumpkin
list. If you watch your email it is evident that only a few members
regularly post to the list while the vast majority quietly lurk. What
popped up was none other than number 22, Jack D. Breckenridge. For those
newer frozen pumpkin growers, Jack is a respected, long time subscriber to
the list. I've never actually meet Jack but I have read his books. Jack
is the author of "Pumpkins are Orange". It's not going to help you grow a
bigger pumpkin but if you can't see yourself or someone you know in his
book then your not growing giant pumpkins. It is very humorous and just
the thing I need to inject a little spring into my winter. Once you have
read "Pumpkins are Orange" then you have to read "Surgeon Fishin' " . One
of these days we may get lucky and Jack will write a sequel to "Pumpkins
are Orange" where the hero is green. I would suggest a title of 'It's a
Pumpkin #$%*& !' Then all the squashers would have something too. If your
interested, try the web site at http://users.owt.com/jdixon/books.htm
Well, I'm off to re-read mine now.
thanks Jack,
Bart Toftness
