List,
Next question.
If the plant and the pumpkin have IDENTICAL DNA (genetic blueprints),
and the seeds therein have half their DNA from that pumpkin and the
other half from either that same pumpkin/plant or from another (if the
grower used a paintbrush or other tool) ...
Then, how is the seed named?
I read for example of the 1140 Stelts being offered by Mr. Attaway, and
I assume the seed was named for its mommy, the pumpkin known around the
world as the 1140 Stelts 2000. Now, where on the pedigree does the dad’s
name appear? I’m not assuming Mr Stelts used a paintbrush, but if he did
or didn’t, the question remains:
How can punkin have only one name when even if selfed it still had a
dad? (1140 Stelts x 2) Can someone set me back on track? Thanks!
Kathie
