All proven means is the seed from that particular pumpkin .....what ever it
is.... say the Morgan 641................ a few growers grow the Morgan
641 and they hit an 879 and a 987. Then that Morgan 641 cross(both mom
and dad) is what we call proven combo. "tested" is really a better word
for it. But what it proves is that the cross you made in the 641 has
potential ......or proof ......or a couple of big kids..................So
which would you rather plant the Morgan 641 that has shown that theres
something to notice here. Or a wild card cross that hasn't been tested an
might throw duds.
