Re: White and Tan

Larry,

Thanks for replying.

I am not sure if what distinguishes white seed and tan seed is a geneitc
thing. Larry has a good point that it could be the combination of certain
avialable nutrients and genetics that produce white seed. I would be
interesting to know if the 803.5 Eaton, that was the male sibbling
pollinater to the 1009.5 eaton, had tan seeds? I think it did. And i would
guess the 946.5 Geerts was a thick tan seed also. So how whould Larry's
875.4 produce white seeds?? That just boggles me, you wouldn't think it
would produce white seed. I might possibly grow the 875.4. I would be
interesting to see if the seeds go tan or white....

I doubt that there is any scientific difference between white and tan. I
didn't know that fact that some heavy hitters prefer tan and some
white(pointed out to me by Bob Attaway).....that is interesting. I suppose
it would be hard to find out how many big pumpkins tan seeds have produced
and how many big pumpkins white seeds have produced, and big pumpkins i
refer too as 700 lbs or more. My biggest pumpkin too, my 762, was grown from
a white seed from the 788 Wentzell, which is an First generation offspring
from the 825.5 shymanski, and we know the 825.5 shymanski seeds were tan. My
762 also had white seeds.
