Shellie Cramer and I both grew the 991 Hunt
in 2000. Shellie grew a 729 lb. pumpkin on
her plant. I grew a 597 on mine.
The seeds from my 597 were large and white.
When I opened up the envelope containing
the 729 Cramer seeds that Shellie sent me,
I was surprised to see medium size TAN seeds.
Shellie pollinated her 991 with the
815 Checkon. I pollinated my 991 with
the 827 Holland.
Hmmm, I wonder how much of a role the
male pollinator plays in seed color ???

It is interesting to note that neither of the parent seeds of the 875
were white and both were large and thick. Possibly color and shape are
determined by amount of certain nutrients available as well as genetics.
Several dozen of the 875 seeds were split open also. Maybe this means
that white seeds open easier than tan seeds?
