I fully agree that on warm days things take off. But usually on warm days
we are watering like crazy or misting. The question is why Southern Cal
whose temps are always pretty warm haven't monster been popped like crazy.
Were not sure what our soil temp are when we water or mist but its the
cooling and replacing of water that gets things moving in the warm
environment ................I am not talking about temps below 50
...........but perhaps on those cloudy 60-65 days root growth is there its
warms up and wham inches are socked on.
Also you wonder if in say a warmer climate like Sacramento that has the
ideal warmth if rapid growth creates a weaker shell. This is true with
trees the faster they grow the weaker they are at branch joints.
The size issue is one that many should take note especially for those with
limited space. Yes it has been proven that 1000lbers can be grown on less
than 500 sqft. This fact is a break through for the small garden and the
large. The large grower would be able to have more plants and chances to
hit a winner.
Glenn-- sure the grower with more plants has a buffer if something goes
wrong. But he also has more to lose . He's invested more money, more
time effort to increase his odds. Say you and I both bought lottery
tickets you spent a dollar, I spent 10,000..............when you win you
win more than win I win.
it only takes one pumpkin to make a sucessful season .
