Re: Fresh water seaweed

    Yes
You are probably right in theory but......
a single truck load of kelp dries to about two five gallon buckets of ground
kelp if that. The grass clippings are composted in my 5 x 5 x 5 commercial
compositor with the miscellaneous greenwaste and some of the leaves. I have
never been able to fill the composter no matter how hard i try. the manure
and mystery mix are already composted and are directly tilled in with a bunch
left over to use in the planting hole. most of the stuff has broken down
extremely fast due to the 60 and 70 degree days we have had this winter and i
have added several bags of rock dust and gypsum to help the digestion. a 50
LB sack of 15 x 15 x 15 fert has been applied to the whole garden and tilled
in to help with the decomposition of the tilled in "debris" and I still water
in fish emulsion every month with a hose sprayer. the worms are having a
field day and I am looking at having things pretty close to what I want it to
be in may.
Yes, I have raised the soil level about six inches but believe me in the
almost pure sand that I garden in it will be almost gone by this time next
year. Fortunately we in southern California can turn around a compost batch
in two weeks 52 weeks a year. So what was DEBRIS two weeks ago is worm food
right now...
Well, I am glad you asked take care and grow em BIG....
