All of the 723 Bobier plants I've grown have had similar characteristics.
Collectively, none of them have been what I would call an aggressive plant
and it seems that it be a genetic trait. The first 723 that I grew back in
2000 was perhaps the worst of the bunch. If I had a backup plant at the
time, I would have yanked it. (I cringe every time I think of that!) It just
never seemed to want to get growing. That scrawny looking plant went on to
grow my 1096.8, which was a slow and steady growing pumpkin. At it's peak,
it was gaining 22-25 pounds per day, but it just kept doing it for a long
period of time. I have not noticed slow growing tendencies as much in the
846 Calai, but I have not grown that plant as many times as the 723.
