I purchased some garlic spray last year. The instruction indicated that it should be sprayed on the plants when young. It will then grow with the plant. Any thoughts?

I just chop up 1 whole garlic into a gallon of water and boil it for 15-20
minutes. Then spray. Perhaps there are better ways though. Anyone else?
