Squash Vine Borer Control:
Last year was the first full season that used a gas powered mist blower. It
made a big difference in control, it puts out a micro fine mist that gets
into every crevice on the plants. It has a dispersing nozzle that enables
you to blow right under the leaves without breaking them. There was Squash
Vine Borers around, so it wasn’t an off year for them. (Can’t ever remember
one anyway.) The brand I bought was a Solo 5HP Knapsack type. Before you
price one hold onto your wallet, they are expensive but in my opinion worth
every penny. They run about $677 so save your pennies. The best price I
found was from A.M. Leonard in OH (800) 543-8955. Make sure you use a
Pesticide that is listed for control of the pest, (Squash Vine Borer is
listed on the label).
