I am interested in eventually consolidating the southern pumpkin grower
into an association modeled after the New England Pumpkin Growers
Association. It will be a slow ride but I think the first step is to see
what southern growers are out there on the list so I am asking for your
assistance. I would like any southern pumpkin grower ( VA, WV, Wash.DC,
NC,SC, GA, FL, AL, MS, TN, KY, ) or devotee on the list to give me the
following information. I would like your name, state and city, how long
you have had this interest, your largest pumpkin ( if you have have
grown one ) and where and when it was weighed off. Please no messages at
this time. I feel that we need to regionalize competition if our sport
is going to spread across the country. I am going to propose this to the
GPC board. It would not involve prize monies but simply bragging rights
for your region. It could be done next year with a simple juggling of
statistics. Let us start the ball, or should I say pumpkin, rolling
here.
