Joe,
Bacterial wilt is another possibility, but the best bet is to take a sample
of it early on and send it to a lab for positive I.D. Sending a sample of the
slop can be misleading....you can get bacterial infections in a rotting vine,
that wasn't really the initial cause of the problem...just a secondary
infection. Send a piece of tissue that is in transition ( part good tissue-
going bad).
