Mark,
The Southern Cup is an idea of mine to help encourage pumpkin
growing further south. I am a relatively new grower my largest and first
AG was last year, 408 lbs, the record for Washington, DC. Being in DC I
have grown to enjoy politics and the shaping of society. I love pumpkins
and what they do to the spirit and am doing my best to shape this
society in a little better way with pumpkins. The southern grower can
not expect to compete with the north because of our growing conditions
but who needs the north when you have the Mason Dixon line! I will
propose to the GPC ( of which I am a member) that we have regional
competitions like this in all the formal sections of the country. They
already do this for the New England states through the NEPGA. I need a
representative for Tenn. who can help in organizing the southern grower
with me. Eventually I would like to see a Southern Pumpkin Growers
Association formed but right now I am just trying to get together a
mailing list. Want to help?
