Hi Tony
The NZ record is 332 pound. This was grown last year by Graham Smith in
Kaiapoi. Pumpkins of New Zealand (PONZ) has only been going for a few
months and there may well be competitions in Auckland.
Through national radio etc we have come up with nothing. I am talking to
Kerry Woodham to help us with markrting etc and have asked her to be our
guest at the weigh-off in Hawera in April 5th.
PONZ is very embryonic. We do not have any set rules etc as does US and
Canada. The biggest pumpkin wins on the day. As time goes by we shall
probaly get more 'legal' but it is promotion and fun at the moment. For
my part I am a parks and Rec' manager so it is all part of my recreation
programmes.
Welcome aboard - this is really the chattiest and best group I belong
to.
Are you growing (a pumpkin) yourself????
