John:
The product in question is Miracle Gro for St. Augustine grasses. It is
31-3-3
with a 1.056% Atrazine weed controler added for a 6 week timed release
effect.
It clearly states not to use on bahia grass, fescue, bermuda or rye grasses,
bnt grass or dichondra. Additionally, it also kills 24 common lawn weeds
including these:
dollar weed, chickweed, primrose, oxalis, crabgrass, purslane, mustard,
nettle
and thistle.
The more I think of this, the more I feel it is not worth the worry to add
this to the soil. I was hoping that someone with experience using this
product
would pipe up and tell me what they know.
The nutrient part of the fert looks really good.....if it weren't for the
weed
control ingredient, I would be happy.
John, what do you think? I don't think I am short of fert.....I have regular
10-10-10 and some 20-27-5 without weed control. Additionally, I have Miracle
Gro and Peters foliar fert.
Barb
I think I'll call the Miracle Gro 800 number to see what they say. Curiosity
is killing me. Better me than my pumpkin plants! Heavens! A true pumpkin
purist! >>
Hi Barb,
I can tell you with 100% cetainty....do not use anything with Atrazine on
your pumpkins. It will kill them and it stays around for a year, depending on
the dose.
