Barb:
I'd certainly steer clear of Atrazine products. Its a very nasty compound
that is very persistent in the soil and the environment. Although the
amount in your fertilizer is relatively small I wouldn't take any chances.
Atrazine is a strong residual herbicide that used to be used extensively in
corn. Its very effective and it can stay in your soil for many years and
does affect adversely affect many vegetable crops. We used to use atrazine
on our corn a long time ago, and we could rotate directly into veggies,
there very clear signs of injury. There are also many evironmental
impacts if this product is not used correctly. Since the compound is so
stable and doesn't rapidly degrade it can be very persistent in the
environment and end up in groundwater and local waterways.
