Why do we grow giant pumpkins? Simple. We are human beings. As human
beings we need to constantly prove our worth, to self-validate, to
assure ourselves we are indeed as potent a force as any in the universe.
We do this through competition, either with others or with ourselves. We
are at constants odds with our achievements (or lack thereof), always
trying to rise above the masses so others will envy us. We want not only
recognition but immortality, to leave indication to future generations
that we not only existed but innovated and excelled.
This is why we grow giant pumpkins.
Plus, they are really big and they look really neat and I really don't
have anything better to do with my summers.
