Fellow Pumpkineers,
All this talk about why we do what we do is intriguing me. A day or
two ago, I jokingly suggested that one of you might genetically engineer
a punkin that would threaten mankind. The thread then went to ideas for
movies. Hmmm...
You know, I've only been on this list a week or two; only been into
pumpkineering a year or so. Frankly I don't think that I've ever met a
group of people more determined than this group. Ultimately, I don't
think that pumpkineering is all about who will grow the Biggest monster;
it seems to me that pumpkineering is living proof of just how far the
human spirit can go when it is determined. Pumpkineering is about
grabbing an idea, wrestling with it and continually trying to make it
better until in just can't get no better. Then we try some more to make
it even better... Some folks run companies like bill gates, others go
to the olympics etc... Our passion is just a little more eccentric.
I'm a photographer by trade. Film making is something I have had a
bit of experience with. (Very Little) . I think this sport deserves a
documentary. I seriously think that with the right directing, filming
etc... it could win an oscar. Right now I haven't the wherewithal, time
or experience to travel the globe and film all you folks, but I'm sure
there is a professional out there who would relish it. Something to
think about...
Ernest
