Brett,
I think you have to look at your manure added to the patch as a large
compost pile......so the things that slow a compost pile down are the same
things that slow you patch down , too much moisture , cold weather, lack of
aeration. lack of nitrogen......you also can buy compost or soil
inoculants and spray the patch this will increase the
microbes,bacterias,fungi enzymes....etc....but the moisture and temp will
still be a prob.......i think once the soil starts to warm things will pick
up and your manure may break down about mid season.....just
