First off this is an attempt to see if I'm reaching the list or not. I've
been stuck in cyberspace for a few months.
Can anyone tell me about the benefits of cross pollinating with
another plant. Being that I will only grow one plant, I always pollinate
from the same plant. Obviously using somebody elses male flowers will
give more variety to gene pool so to speak. What I'm wondering is am I
really hurting my chances for a big one by not seeking out some stud?
If there is anyone in the western washington puget sound area who
might offer stud service this summer please come forward.
Also, I am very excited to have some Holland x879 to grow. Is
anyone else planting this seed? And...When I purchased the Growing Giant
pumpkins book, by Don Langevin (sorry Don) I recieved some seed that was
kin to the famous Momburt x567.5 seed. It was a give away wiwth the book.
Has anyone had any good results with this seed??
Thanks,
Chris Andersen
