First time posting with e-mail. I am a 2-year grower with a best of 290lbs.
I live just west of Cincinnati, in Harrison, Ohio.. I have a frient who got me
in to growing giant pumpkins. He lives a little futher west, in Indiana. He
is a 3-year grower with a best of 506lbs. We have put together a list of
questions. We will take all the help we can get.
1. Are there any adverse effect to watch for when using a systemic fungicide?
2. It takes between 2 - 3 weeks to get the results of a soil test back. In
the middle
of a growing season, that is much too long to wait. How accurate are the
battery operated soil analyzers sold in seed catalogs?
3. If your soil test indicates that you are near the top in all areas, is
there really
a need to use dry fertilizer when tilling the soil when planting?
4. Has anyone heard of or used tree grafting wax when dealing with splits,
weeping
or stem stress instead of Captan or other fungicides? With what success
is
this done?
Thanks,
Tom Brown
