To recognize and deal with nutrient problems, I look at the plant itself and
observe any problems it may have. Then I compare this to a paper on plant
nutrition, determine what is lacking, and apply a liquid fertilizer that will
correct the problem.

I am a fertilizer addict and will always put more on, if certain areas are
higher than others, try to balance them by adding more of the lower nutrients. If
your soil is perfect, you have nothing left to do other than grow a world record
pumpkin.

I have heard of this being used with good results. I have never tried it, but
have used window glazing to seal up some of the larger cracks in my pumpkins.
I hope this helps,
