Hello folks,
People probably get tired of hearing my news.
I am currently wrestling with two problems.
Firstly, I now have three fruit set on the main vine of the #554 and I
havn't taken measures to ensure it is correctly positioned. I have a nice
spherical shaped fruit growing on a relatively thick straight section of the
main vine which is currently buried, There are two fruit further down the
vine but one is pear shaped and the other more egg shaped. I would prefer to
go with the spherical shaped fruit but am not sure I could get the vine into
a good shape. Has anyone tried to shape the vine when it is reasonably thick
and set down roots?
Secondly, this afternoon I noticed a hole in the side of the unopened petals
of a female flower like something had eaten its way in. Then I noticed two
holes in the edge of the vine and one goes into the centre. I gave
everything a spray but don't know if something may have gone into the centre
of the vine or flower. Should I put a bung in the vine hole or what?
