Hello Pumpkineers,
Before I get started, I would also like to
thank everyone on this list for their advice, seeds, input. etc. Your
information combined with Don Langevin's book and a liitle research have
helped turn my clay pit into a viable pumpkin patch.
While I was growing up in Indiana, my coaches always used to tell
me, "Son if you want to get better, you need to prepare during the off-
season." Well I've taken that same info. from B-ball and applied it to my
pumpkin efforts. Last year was my first serious attempt at growing AG's.
Although I ultimately lost my patch to vine borers, I gained and incredible
amount of knowledge, wisdom and experience nonetheless.
So to get to the point of it all, I received the results from my
soil test back today. I am excited beyond belief for the most part. My main
reason for being excited was the ph results. My soil has finally succumbed to
all the sulfur I have continued to add at different times during the past
year. I added a total of 4 lbs per acre during that time. I have posted the
PH, Potassium, and Phosphorus results below last year vs. this year. I
welcome your input concerning these numbers. I am concerned that my potassium
is to high any input in this area would especially be appreciated. They may
be high due to the addition of gross amounts of horse manure.
