Mutation in NZ

I have just made a few phone calls to some of our growers. One has
mutated fruit the size of a soccer ball but there are all sorts of
"prickles" appearing and growth has stopped. The prickles are suspected
seeds poking through the skin on the blossom end. The colour isyellow
and I am not sure of the seed parentage.
This is nothing like anything I have heard - any suggestions please.
