How well do watermelons grow in a hydroponic environment? Do they get
big? How do they taste? You could be onto something great. Have you
grown Carolina Cross watermelons? Could this 3' X 3' area be expanded to
support a pollinator? Possibly have your vine grow through an open a
window. Rig a plywood platform to support a giant pumpkin or watermelon
just outside your kitchen. This would solve your problem of getting it
out through your kitchen door. I'm sure there is a crane company in your
local area that could easily lift a heavy pumpkin or watermelon from your
second story perch. The possibilities are endless.
